Thanks for all of your thoughts on the chairs, I’ve got some samples ordered and can’t wait to nail down a shade! It’s been a busy and exciting weekend around here and our kitchen has gone from this to this…
Micah has some great friends, and he always manages to coral them up when we need extra hands and muscle. Thank you Ron, Brett, Joseph, and John! Whenever you demo a house especially an older home you just never know what you’re going to find. There can be so many things hiding behind the walls, but in general we got pretty lucky. Some of our biggest issues were found a few weeks ago. From day one I knew I wanted this soffit gone.
Why did anyone decide soffits should be a thing? My father-in-law warned us that if the soffit was framed in before the electrical and plumbing were done, they would likely have wires and pipes running through them. So Micah cut some holes in them one day and sure enough, there were both.
Like all hiccups, he first tells me we’ll have to totally change cabinet plans but after a bit of discussion we figured out that most of the pipes can be rerun through the studs thank goodness for pipe-fitting friends. The plumbing in that top picture isn’t easily finagled, but after talking to our contractor we can notch out the back of that cabinet and work around it. I care about a pipe being visible, but I don’t care about a pipe in a cabinet I’ll probably open once a year.
I love finding past decor, and we definitely found that here. Muted florals, black and white stripes, and blush/nude tones…what goes around comes back around!
