It’s that time of year again…I am so excited to be back doing another One Room Challenge™! We’ve completed two so far (here and here), and I feel like each time I get a little more comfortable cramming a room makeover into six weeks. And I mean cram…it’s not how I typically design spaces, but there is such satisfaction in walking away with a completed room in that amount of time. One thing I’m really excited about: this is my first challenge to not be pregnant! Pregnancy kind of sucks the life and creativity out of me, so I am approaching this room with more energy and confidence than ever before.
I shared my excitement on Instagram last week, and many of you following along over there guessed I was tackling our master bathroom or that the transformation of the wood room was my space. While the bath is certainly on the list and the wood room is being worked on at the moment, there’s one space that really deserves my attention more and that’s Milly’s room.
Other than the decorating Milly has done, this room has not been touched since we moved in. The room is fine, but the only thing special about it are the things she’s added. Milly’s been begging me to paint it for a long time now. I almost painted it this summer just to appease her, but time got away from me. Then Linda reached out, and I knew this was the space to work on for this challenge. Because we haven’t done anything to the room, I’ve let her have free reign on the walls and bedding that Frozen bedding showed up thanks to a grandparent. Milly’s request has been pink and purple since day one, and I think I can give her just that in a way where we’ll all be satisfied.
Soon her and Domino will share this space, so planning for two is a must. We’re bringing in another twin bed and definitely need more storage. Along with a bigger dresser, I plan to add more function to the closet and some sort of nightstand. Most of the toys are in the playroom or a closet in the upstairs hallway, so that kind of storage isn’t necessary in here, but Milly loves to draw and color. I want to give her a space to do those things and hang her art proudly. Pink and purple it is, but I plan to do it in a way that feels sophisticated and long-lasting with some fun pops and bold color that those of you who’ve been around a while know I like to bring…a room these girls can enjoy while they’re fighting over toys in a year and clothes at 17 and 13!
There’s a lot to do and we’re hoping to start this weekend. Next week I’ll be back with details of the plan for the space, but in the meantime be sure to check out the other participants. As always, Linda has knocked this one out of the park with great designers and incredibly generous sponsors. I can’t wait to take you along for the ride! Be sure to follow along on Instagram for behind the scenes moments and updates too.

Love where you are going with this!!! Especially that paint color. I painted my daughters room a pretty purply pink when I first participated in the oneroomchallenge as a guest a couple years ago and I loved it! We’ve since moved and I have been considering painting it the same color since. Love what you do and good luck! Oh and I hope you snatched up those knot prints from the painted house, or else they may be gone already ?

I absolutely loved the last edition, so this one will most likely be my next favourite! I had a strong purple streak as a kid, and I still love my pinks, so this room is right up my alley.
