Our entry was a space we quickly fixed up after we moved in – a coat of paint, some new base trim, and scraped ceilings do wonders! I still envision it getting a makeover when we do the adjoining stairway and upstairs hall, but I’m happy with the decor that has come together. I love collections. However, dusting them is what keeps me from being a full on maximalist.
How to create a collection without feeling cluttered? A curio cabinet! I thrifted this one a few years back, and it’s been slowly filling itself with smaller blue and white I find and mementos. A photo of my grandparents in New York in the 40s, feathers found on family hikes, a cork from our ten year anniversary, souvenirs and shells from trips…it’s a great place to stash items that mean something to us. The cabinet makes it feel corralled, keeps the dust off, and is a fun thing to greet guests into our home.
Do you have a spot in your home for mementos or collections to shine?
