We’ve advanced to the second round of Creating with the Stars! I must admit, I had my doubts – the skill level of the projects was insane! – but I’m really thrilled to have made the cut.
Were you able to guess which one was mine? I figured all of that mid-century might throw some of you off. I started with the lamp, added the pillow, and the painting was an 11th hour addition for some color.
Hopefully when this is all said and done I can sit down and put together some tutorials for you.
But for now I’ll be obsessing over the next task at hand: PAINT. I have lots of ideas and am excited to pin one down and get going. It looks like another week of takeout with housework on hold (darn), but I really had an amazing time last round and look forward to creating again this week. Thanks for your support throughout all of this, you all are the best!
Did you get a chance to vote? I know picking one must have been so difficult! What were some of your favorite projects?

I did not pick yours (though I thought I had…I was sure that the gold and coral table was you). But now that I see the reveal, I can see your style, especially your style of photography, in your entry. I really liked the lamp and pillow, but I thought the artwork detracted from the entry a bit. The puckering from the paint unfortunately was a deal breaker. I would have edited the art from my entry, if it were me. Overall, I was extremely impressed with your entries. I thought you were very ambitious to tackle an electrical project and it turned out perfectly! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the "Paint" Round (and I will desperately try to figure out which one is yours, so I can vote for it!)

Thanks for your thoughts. A lot of what you had to say were things I definitely thought myself/wrestled with. I started with the lamp and felt like it kind of lost the spotlight along the way. Whether or not the art is great, it's probably what got me through to the next round. I had a lot of readers say that the color is what made them know it was me. The space didn't feel like me without it, and a lamp up against full-on furniture didn't have much of a chance. Between time constraints, finances, and the attempt to make a space look like something it's not (I shot this at my friends studio) this was very challenging for me. Trying my best to do better this next time!

I nearly picked that lamp – it was a toss up between this lamp and the x benches. I love this lamp and I love how original it all was. Some of the other entries lost it for me because how many times have we seen knock off coffee tables? I don't mean that to sound negative either (I was just looking for some different things) – everyone did an awesome job and I think the time constraints must be a bit crazy making! So, all that to say, congratulations for getting through and I can't wait to see what everyone does in the next round. Good luck!!

I thought your entry was AWESOME. And I think it's worth noting that just because something appeals to the masses doesn't mean it's superior. Ya know? Not that ALL of these entries weren't AMAZING. I'm just sayin'. 🙂 Congrats again! And good luck with round two! Woo hoo!

I always have a hard time letting the dust bunnies build up while I focus on projects. I'm lying, I ALWAYS let the dust bunnies build up, and don't really need an excuse 🙂 Can't wait for next week, and good luck now getting through all the hard work part of it!
