Let’s talk about where we have hidden treasure! I get asked often where I keep everything I’m not currently using for decor, and here is the good, the bad, and the ugly. I thrifted this old cabinet for $50, and it houses a lot of my tabletop pieces – from stone objects to candlestick holders. (You can see more of what’s inside in stories today.) The credenza under the mirror wall houses all of my candles and decorative mosses. The dining room buffet is stuffed full of serving pieces, barware, and table linens. In the laundry room cabinets you’ll find silver champagne buckets and flower vases. My office has art I just can’t seem to part with and a corner of bigger pieces that “might work somewhere, someday.” The ugly is the storage area in the basement, with lamps and a few too many gold mirrors I promise I’ll add to the mirror wall one day. How about you? Where do you store your extras? Please tell me I’m not the only one with extras…

Glad to know I’m not the only one! It’s so hard to get rid of pretty things, especially if they’re vintage and can’t be easily replaced. Storage boxes and baskets are our friends!

Right now they are all sitting on top of my dining room table…the dining room is getting makeover this summer so I’ll need a new spot, I’m envious of Chis Loves Julia’s decor closet in her basement- I could absolutely use one of those!

Love it!

I’m feeling the constant pull these days between the minimalist movement and my love of all things old. I stuff my treasures in the buffet in the dining room, rotate them in and out of boxes in the basement, and store them in a kitchen cabinet above the microwave. Occasionally I weed them, but my youngest daughter who has been thrifting with me for almost 2 decades has advised me that it is stupid to throw anything away during a pandemic!

That sounds like some solid advice. 😉 I totally understand that, I really enjoy treasures but can feel a bit anxious when too much surrounds me at once. I appreciate you sharing, Donna!
