Last fall the dining room took center stage for a spooky supper setting, but this year I’m peppering a bit of creep throughout the house. I started in the library and definitely spent the most time in there moving tons of books at 33 weeks pregnant is not the best idea and now I’m focusing on things that are a little more simple and easier to execute.
Like any holiday, I prefer a nod to the occasion over blatant decor, so mixing everyday accessories with some holiday pieces and natural elements always feels best to me. This big bowl I found at Ross last year usually houses a ginormous boxwood ball. I switched it out for some bones I used last Halloween, and Milly and I took a trip into the woods behind our house to find some dead branches. I could have cut some of our own branches and let them dry out, but patience is not always a strong virtue of mine. Using limbs that still have some leaves holding on adds to the ambiance.
Proof that seasonal decor doesn’t have to be expensive, time-consuming, or over-the-top to be fun. Next up, giving the kids a bit of their own Halloween fun.
Here’s a look at some of our past decor to inspire…
My favorite Halloween decor for 2020 here.

I didn’t make it, it’s actually from Grandin Road: http://www.grandinroad.com/paper-bats-halloween-wreath/905575. It’s so pretty and they have a butterfly/skeleton one too!
