A Project with Home Depot + Making Memories: December 2013

I hope you had the most wonderful holidays!  I look forward to sharing a peek at some of our Christmas in a minute, but first I wanted to let you know that my Home Depot Style Challenge is up on their blog.  Head on over here!

December is always such a busy month, and this year was filled with parties, shopping and Christmas activities.  While I try to bring along my camera to any special thing we do, I took a break this month to just enjoy things as a participant instead of a moment capturer.

I did manage to take the camera to Micah’s first individual crossfit competition.

I am amazed by his strength and endurance, and frankly it’s exhausting and sometimes scary to watch him compete.  He had to raise that 75 lb. kettle bell over his head 45 times in between other workouts!  The competitions are always fun to watch and the vibe is really different from any other sporting event you would go to.  I’ve never been surrounded by that many “in shape” people.  Unlike a baseball tournament – no soda and nachos here – they only have water and craft beers to drink and paleo food to eat.  My lunch plate was filled with grilled chicken, sauteed green beans and the most amazing sweet potato and avocado salad I’ve ever had.  I would go back just for the food.

Being a singer, Christmas Eve always seems to be a hectic night.  While I enjoy it, I also look forward to it’s end and Christmas morning, where I feel like I can finally relax with my family.

Milly had a rough start with things, but quickly adjusted to her bubbly self.  
She wanted her new moccasins on immediately and her bag in hand to go with her old lady scarf.
We headed to my parents for the rest of the morning, ate an amazing brunch and fell asleep by the fire watching Christmas classics. 
My dad got Milly this Peek A Boo Bear and she had mixed feelings (and faces) about it.  She’s starting to warm up to him though.  I posted a video of them on Instagram that is pretty hilarious.   
We spent the evening at my in-laws and the favorite gift had to be this play kitchen.

We are lucky to live so close to both our families, and it was nice to have a day where we could all just eat and relax together.
We’re nearly finished with the kids play space, and I hope to get some pictures of it this weekend so I can show it to you the beginning of next week.  Have a lovely weekend and don’t forget to pop on over to Home Depot and tell me what you think!
