The one thing I think all playrooms should feel is happy. The red couch was bringing that, but it needed a partner in crime. Many of you on Instagram thought I had painted a door a cheery yellow (Behr’s Lemon Zest) but I actually decided to go bold elsewhere.
The before and after are up on Domino now. Have a happy weekend!

Viva la lemon hue! I just used this color to dye curtains in the nursery…so much fun! Happy Nesting. I love your blog banner!
Thanks so much!
Lovely!!!
Go bold or go home! Love it!
Oh I love it!
I love it! Totally thought it was a door too:) great choice in Color:)
Thanks, Mary!
Well, that's pretty huge! Congrats, Gwen 🙂 I love that you went with something completely unexpected in their space.
I am always amazed at the impact a simple can of paint can have! I love that you went all the way up to the ceiling with the yellow!
Oh, wow! My son would love this and call it the Ironman room 🙂 xo
Way to be punchy–so fun and unexpected!
This is GENIUS!! So inspired by your brave creativity. Bringing it up to the ceiling is unexpected and perfect. You rock.
Bravo Lady!! I love your color choice and also the red sofa. I have not yet tried Craigs List, but I feel like the now is the time to give it a try. I also love the white couch you found (on a previous post.) I think it would look great as is, but looking forward to see how you change it.
Yes, you must!
Primary color fabulousness! What a fun, happy play space. Love it, Gwen!
Love it, perfect for a playroom!
Now seriously Gwen, who has a playroom like this? This is above and beyond. Can I be your kid and come play?!!
Ha, you're sweet. Thanks, Sherri!
You are so brave and I LOVE it!
Gwen, I love the color you chose to balance out the room, and how you went all the way to the ceiling to give the illusion of a grand fireplace. Such a happy room! What color did you use on the walls? Everything looks so crisp! Congrats on your Domino article, it was fantastic!
WOW! You are GOOD! You pulled off color effortlessly – many people struggle with this! Good job mama 🙂
Such a great idea! It really brings the room to life 😀

Beautiful colors and the looks lovely! Thanks for sharing. Possibly the pouf next to the fireplace stands out, and one of these handmade fabric poufs would go very well.

so, so fabulous!! I love it. Cheery it is! In my old house we had the foyer painted in a similar hue. Yellow is such a good color and I just love that you just did the fireplace. So creative!
Nailed it. That is one chic playroom.
What a huge difference! It's amazing what a little paint can do 😉
So happy Gwen! I love it!
Fearless design = the best. You are killing it
I DIE!!! You just get it woman:)
Oh No! Why why why would you paint such a gorgeous fireplace and mantel? Absolutely hideous, and you ruined what looks to be a vintage piece. So sad.
So chic and fun!!
