Milly and her cousin Lainey turned three the end of June, and we always love the chance to celebrate their big days together. My sister-in-law and I like to divide and conquer: I do what I love decor while she does what she enjoys food.
The girls were a bit cranky getting ready for the party, and they kept feeding off each other’s grumblings. At one point I might have threatened to call the whole thing off, but they managed to get it together and had a wonderful time once they were dressed. The drama of girls!
Even though I was preparing for the girls party, I wanted to put most of my energy into updating the backyard space over fleeting decor. If your atmosphere is beautiful, your party doesn’t need much. I gave a facelift to some hand-me-down outdoor furniture with a little paint and custom cushions from Cushion Source. The clean yet classic look is perfect for any occasion and really took the party up a notch.
A friend from church made the swan cookies. I love how they turned out!
The flowers from The Bloom Academy set the tone for the party. Investing in one kind of decor instead of several small things really paid off.

The backyard has come a long way, and I look forward to showing you more in the coming weeks. To hear about the details of the party, head on over to Domino.
