After months of searching for the perfect dining room buffet, I decided to check into having one made. The table is 9′ long and it needed a piece that could compete with it. Everything I had found was not nearly big enough or cost an arm and a leg.
You may be thinking “custom can’t be cheap” but custom actually ended up being cheaper than a lot of mediocre quality, a-bit-small buffets. I think the key was working with a cabinet maker over someone who strictly makes furniture. That meant being a little more flexible on my end, but the end result is better than I had imagined!
My husband works with Double C quite often on commercial jobs, and he thought they could create what I was envisioning. I initially wanted something with legs, but when they said I would have to source that part out to someone else I decided to go another route. The waterfall edge was the perfect answer: it was clean and simple against the feminine legs of the table and it was right up Double C’s alley. Contrast seemed like the right choice, but I didn’t want stark white. We color matched the lacquer to Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone, and the result is a light and bright piece that still has some warmth to it against the dark blue walls.

The perfect choice!
Thank you!
Amazing! Love the juxtaposition against the traditional dining table!
Thanks!
Gorgeous! I'm loving everything about your dining room!
Thanks, Gloria!
So amazing!
When you say you color matched the paint to a Farrow & Ball paint does that mean you ordered a sample from Farrow & Ball and then took it in to a store like Lowe's and Home Depot and have them match it? Just curious because we are about to start painting our house and I don't love the paint options available at Lowe's and Home Depot (the only paint stores we have in town).
We matched the sample of F&B to the lacquer. Any hardware store can color match to a paint swatch or sample as long as it's bigger than a quarter. Best of luck with your house!!!
Thanks!!
What color did you use on the walls? Also the chandelier is gorgeous- is that a vintage piece??
Hi Hollie! It’s Farrow & Ball’s Black Blue and the chandelier is a vintage piece. Thanks!
