If I’m being honest, this week has been one of the most on-edge I think I’ve ever experienced. We’ve had quite a few showings of our house, but the work that goes into keeping things tidy and the anticipation of feedback, offers, etc. is just getting the best of me. On top of the house sale and hunt, our sweet little boy had surgery on Wednesday to remove a birthmark that the dermatologists were getting a little concerned about.
Because the birthmark was on the bend of Xander’s knee, he’ll have to be in a full leg cast for 2 weeks. He’s been such a trooper, and the surgery went so well. X was certainly the bravest of all of us and has taken to walking around on it like a champ. After eating his waffles yesterday morning, he hobbled back to our room for a movie and when I went out to the kitchen to clean up, he had still managed to put his plate in the dishwasher and cup of milk in the fridge when he was finished.
I’m doing my best to focus on our little guy and things other than the house, and one area that has snuck up on me is a certain pair of girls’ birthday.
My daughter, Milly, and her cousin Lainey were born just 2 days apart and this year we’re throwing them a joint party. It works out perfectly because my Lainey’s mom (my sister-in-law) loves to cook, and well, I don’t. So I get to tackle what I enjoy: the decor and she get’s to tackle what she likes: the food.
I’m hoping I’ll have some more news on the home front next week. I hate to spill beans too soon! Hope you have a lovely, summery weekend!

Goodness, what a week! Our almost-2-year-old daughter had eye surgery fairly recently, so I totally identify with the toll it takes on a momma's emotions! Plus a house on the market thrown in… that's a lot for you to deal with. So glad the surgery went well. Your little man is a trooper indeed!
I too have to start thinking about my lil gal's birthday party, which I think we figured out is right around the same time (end of June). I wish I had a party co-host who loves to cook and would take care of that part for me. Ahh, wouldn't that be nice! I too much prefer to decorate! 😉 Your invitation is just gorgeous! xo

Im so glad everything went well with your sons surgery.
And that invitation is adorable!
Thanks, Julia!
Prayers for your kiddo's recovery but sounds like he is a tough one!
Super hoping there is good house news soon. Sounds like the perfect party marriage between you and your-sis-in law! And I totally did the "aw!" and hand to heart move when I read the bit about Xander clearing his plate and putting his milk away. Just the sweetest. Your kids sound so much like mine – the older and the younger 🙂 So glad the surgery went well!!
Aw, what a trooper. Hang in there!
Thanks, Jessie!
Glad all went well with the surgery! Hang in there and have fun at that sweet party!
Thanks so much, Summer!
Oh, what a trooper, Gwen! So glad to hear that it all went well. Hope he heals up great 🙂
Sounds like a crazy week! I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well. I know the house buying/selling process can be so stressful. Can't wait to hear your news!
glad everything went well….health stuff with my kids makes me a wreck! Glad to you have it behind you!
Sounds like things have been crazy! Hang in there, girl – you totally got this. Love those party invites. Totally adorable. There aren't any kiddos in our family yet, but I'm going to talk to my sister-in-law about teaming up for parties when the time comes! Love that you and your sister do that. I love the paper products & decorating, and my sister is an awesome cook. Perhaps we could be a dynamic duo, like you lovely ladies!
Sounds like you could be! Thanks, Rachel!
LOVE Milly & Lainey's invite, Gwen! Reminds me of the summer shabby chic shower we threw for The Schooley's last year! Can't believe how big she is now 🙁 it seems like you just had he yesterday!
**her. Not he!

So so glad your little guys is doing well. I can empathize on the feelings of anxiety over the house. Don't worry though sweets, your home is beautiful and it will sell soon:)
