When my friend, Justin, came in town and we took some pictures together, he asked me about helping him shoot a wedding. Being a second photographer is something I’ve always had on my “to try” list. As second shooter, you basically assist the main photographer the day of the wedding in any facet they desire. Capturing the day was such an amazing experience; I loved every minute of it.
Justin wanted me to focus on the details so he could get the money shots, and I really enjoyed finding and capturing the little parts of the day that someone spent time on but most people overlook. Those are the things I live for!
Kiran and Jenna are a young and beautiful couple, totally in love. Their kindness and affection for each other and anyone they come in contact with was very apparent from the start.
The two had their first date next to a creek behind Jenna’s parent’s house. When the couple got engaged, they wanted to have their wedding at that same spot, so Jenna’s family got to work and cleared a big spot in the middle of the woods for the ceremony.
Guests parked near her parent’s home and wandered on a path through the woods to the venue.
Jenna’s mom wrote out 1 Corinthians 13 on signs that led you weaving your way through the woods to this:
The most romantic of places.
The canopy of trees, with ferns planted around their bases, shaded the 500 guests and really made you feel like you were in another world.
Little girls danced in with ribbon hoops and the bridesmaids walked down the aisle with candlelit lanterns.
Guests sat around fallen trees and little girls sat on them.
It was the most magical wedding I’ve ever attended.
Kiran’s father is Indian and Jenna’s father is Japanese, bringing so many beautiful, cultural elements to the day.
I loved the paper cranes that were sent from family in Japan and the wedding cake.
