Over the last year and a half this blog has brought me friendships, opportunities and lessons that continue to amaze me. This one, my friends, feels especially awesome. Today I have my first post on domino.com and am extremely honored to tell you that I will be contributing regularly as an online Style Influencer to one of my favorite sources for decor inspiration.
About 6 years ago I worked for a local lifestyle and home magazine here in Kansas City. As a newlywed, I was just settling into the idea of having my own home and what to fill it with. I had spent years studying fashion and loved to put together an outfit, but a room felt overwhelming to me – it felt so permanent. I knew what I liked, I just never really knew how to achieve it. In my time at the magazine I distinctly remember the editor and some of the writers discussing Domino as their favorite shelter mag; they would even have get-togethers to pour through the pages and discuss the spaces. At this point I had yet to read Domino, but I knew it had to be great if Zim and her counterparts spoke so highly of it.
In the last several years I’ve come quite a long way in my shelter magazine knowledge and my decorating skills. But I never dreamed that starting a blog would lead to this. And now, as a stay-at-home mom in middle America, I’m given the chance to contribute my thoughts to Domino. Man, the internet can be a crazy, wonderful thing.
