What a week it’s been! The ceilings got the final sanding and a few coats of paint, and lots of empty boxes later the cabinets are in! Not just any cabinets, these Kraftmaid beauties I chose are perfect. We went with the Gresham Maple in Sage from Lowe’s, and that sage is everything. Very English, but yet it feels so fresh against the white subway tile much more of that to come!
The range hood isn’t messing around, and I’m really happy that Kathleen the designer we’re working with at Lowe’s recommended this size. It’s big and bold, and I think it will balance well with the huge fridge/freezer.
I don’t think I’ll be able to pick a favorite thing when we’re all said and done, but this wall will be up there. The full fridge/freezer is going to be life changing for the way we eat and having twice the pantry space on either side is incredibly convenient.
I grew up spoiled with pull out pantry drawers and I must say, it’s something you miss. I can’t wait to have that ease back again.
From the silverware drawers to the pan pull outs, I can’t believe how custom it all feels.
The countertops were templated today and should be installed next week, which gives us a short amount of time to get A LOT of tiling done. Not one speck of drywall or floor board will be visible when we’re done slinging the mastic and grout, and then we’ll move on to finishing up cabinets and adding the crown. I’ll be back later this week to talk about the sink situation. It’s something I’ve stewed on for quite some time and I really want some faucet opinions. Off to turn on some Pandora and tile the night away!

Beautiful! It’s so refreshing to see a non-white/grey kitchen too, not that I don’t love them. Really looking forward to more updates

The color is just so different than what most people are doing right now – it’s nice to see something unique! All-white kitchens are gorgeous, but I love how much more moody and unique this feels. Also, I’m jealous of the pull-out pantry drawers; that is definitely on our wish list!

I absolutely love this! The look is so classic and yet so modern! Did you have a good experience with the Lowe’s project? We’re just embarking on a similar endeavor, and my dad mentioned that I could just take my rendering up to Lowe’s to get a quote on the cabinets. Did they come to you, or did you go in first? Thanks for the response! absolutely love following you.

I went to Lowe’s first and then they will come out and do measuring, etc. Kathleen has been really great to work with and helped add things I never would have thought of. Good luck and thanks so much for reading!

Thanks! Yes, the floor is going to really make the space, I think!

That green is amazing! I might have missed the explanation, but are you no longer going with the antiqued mirror for the backsplash?
themakerista@gmail.com says
It’s still in the plans, but I switched where it’s going up a bit thanks to some readers suggestions. 🙂

I LOVE the green! I painted my kitchen cabinets last summer that same shade of green (Barrington Green by Sherwin WIlliams) and I’m always happy when I see it other places. I’m going to be doing a white subway tile/marble-y quartz as well. It’s so clean without being typical. What countertop are you using?
themakerista@gmail.com says
We used Silestone’s Lagoon. It’s really perfect!

Great job. I have a smaller kitchen and have been considering this color for over 9 months and keep telling myself white is safe and better for resale. We live in Florida and have lots of light all around the kitchen. You may be helping me go with green now! Hoping I can make it look moody and beachy. Would you go white in Florida?
themakerista@gmail.com says
I don’t think you have to go white because you’re in Florida! I think keeping the other elements light and bright like counters, etc. keeps it from feeling too heavy. Are you planning to move soon? If you’re not, I think you should go with what will make you happy!

Did you guys install the cabinets yourself or have them installed by Lowes?? You do amazing work and are a super talent! Thanks for inspiring all of us!!
themakerista@gmail.com says
We did it ourselves. We definitely considered having Lowe’s contractors do it, but we ultimately knew we could invest in better things if we saved money on labor. 🙂 Thank you so much for reading and following along!

Is the range hood from Lowes?

It is!
