I take a lot of pictures. Between shooting things for this blog, snapping inspiration for our new house, and capturing the day-to-day memories we create as a family, I’m always taking a picture with my iPhone, iPad, or Canon.
While I love all of these devices and the ease that comes with photographing something digitally, storage and access could certainly be improved. I am often that person attempting to capture one of my child’s “firsts,” only to find that my phone’s camera is at max capacity. The other day I found myself standing with the cabinet salesman while I searched my phone for that dream kitchen I took a screenshot of, only to remember I did that on the iPad…which was on the couch…at home. And although I have a nice DSLR camera to capture life, we don’t take the time to enjoy those memories because I rarely get pictures printed.
But recently I found a system that allows me to deal with all of these issues in a really simple way. LyveHome is a tool that effortlessly manages all of our photo and video collections across all mobile devices (iOS or Android) and computers. By simply downloading the free Lyve App to each device, we protect all of our images and share them throughout all of the other devices. When I say we, I mean it. WE don’t have to do a thing! The app automatically adds photos to the LyveHome as you take them, and puts them in chronological order. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it has a beautiful touchscreen that scrolls through all the images collected (my kids could spend hours just watching the memories).
With this system, every image I capture is safe, sorted and accessible from any of our devices.
Micah can take pictures of Xander riding his bike and I can instantly see them in the Lyve App on my phone and share them with my Facebook friends. I can finish up editing pictures on the computer and pull them up on my phone, through Lyve App, to upload to Instagram. The ease of access and reassurance of protection has saved lots of time and worry. Gone will be the days of emailing myself pictures or spending countless hours backing up and deleting images.
Lyve was nice enough to give me an extra LyveHome (valued at $299) to share with a reader! Head on over to see more of how the product works – the video is a fun watch. Leave a comment telling me what aspect of digital capturing you struggle with, along with an email you can be reached at, and I’ll draw a winner on August 28th. Best of luck!

My iphone saying it's out of storage is becoming one of my biggest pet peeves- It makes us so mad when we miss a moment because we are trying to figure out what picture we can delete to take a new picture. This seems like an amazing solution that is easy. Thanks so much for sharing.
Jaymizzle says
My biggest digital capturing issues is that I LOVE to take pictures of my family, I LOVE to screenshot things I see online, and I end up with thousands of pictures each year. This wouldn't be an issue alone, but you also have to account for the fact that we live in a society where the kitchen sink might as well have Wi-Fi and a camera app. My kids are 5 and 6 years old, and since their birth we're talking about pictures spread across 6 smartphones, 3 computers, and an Ipad (including my husband's devices too). Now each of those devices is filled to the brim with pictures, and no one organization structure has ever seemed to work for getting them into one place. I have nightmares about looking at a memory card on an old phone only to find out that the first three months of my oldest's life in photos is gone! With the business of life, any solution that is more than one step (or, let's be real, completely automated) just isn't going to work for me long term. A device like Lyve sounds like the solution I need, thank you so much for bringing it to my attention!

I struggle with every aspect of storing and more importantly, enjoying, photos. I think this is the perfect solution! I wonder if this would be something you could get to share with grandparents as well?? Hmm. I struggle with should I print individual photos? Should I make a book? Having a child now, I have less and less time to do either…this is the perfect solution!

Yes! I'm also a victim of the 'delete-one-to-take-one' crisis. My iPhone stays full and emailing a picture to myself so I can delete it from my phone just so I can capture another moment is tedious… and oftentimes the cause of missing said moment. Lyve sounds genius.
Melissa Gilstrap says
I have trouble getting everything back in chronological order when they have been passed from DSLR to computer to iPhone and back to computer for printing/storage. Definitely will be checking out Lyve!!!
Aynsley says
The aspect I struggle with the most is the chronological ordering! When I upload and try to take the time to organize- it's overwhelming. That doesn't even address that my newborn currently looks JUST LIKE HIS BIG BROTHER when he was little so I'm terrified I won't know who is who when I look back at photos if the dates are accurate 🙁

I too struggle with my phone at max capacity. What a great idea!

Oh wow – I will be researching this product even more! Thanks for sharing. Do you know if there are any cameras out there that are compatible with something like this? For some reason, I loathe the simple daily task of hooking up electronics to my computer to upload pictures. Pictures seem to just pile up and sit on my camera for.ev.er. Maybe I just need to invest in a smart camera.

We are so alike in this! I take most of my pictures on my phone and have to go through deleting to find space. I have a nice DSLR but rarely get that out and when i do i dont ever print off the pictures- i have got to get better about this. This app sounds perfect for us!

I had never heard of Lyve, this is fantastic! I definitely struggle with backing things up, and also with multiple devices. Because I do a lot of telecommuting for my job and work with images quite a bit, I find that the file that I need is most often either on my office computer if I'm at home, or on my home computer if at work. I try to be good about emailing or dropping it into a shared file, but far too often it doesn't save or send right! So frustrating! This sounds like the answer!

My iphone fills up too quickly! Just yesterday I spent probably an hour going through pictures and saving them to my computer and then deleting them from my phone. I'll have to check out Lyve!

Love this product! Reminds me of when the first ipod came out and I thought "what a fabulous way to store all my music". Perfect solution for backing up pictures.

I have a terrible time organizing my photos from different devices. I usually end up doing a gigantic data dump to one file on my computer to be managed later (read: never). I would LOVE the ability to organize my photo files in real time AND have a lovely way to display them.

Love this idea. I have vowed to get my pictures in order. And August 28th is my birthday!

I manage my photos on my laptop so I'm always emailing phone pictures to myself. And it seems like I have to delete a picture to make room for a new one on my phone.

I agree with the lack of printing. I keep a folder of 'photos to print'…and literally do it like twice per year! This would be awesome!
Nicki K says
Like you, I've struggled to bring all of my snapshots and video together to create something tangible. I'm used to grabbing the device I have handy to capture those memories, and unfortunately they simply just stay on those devices. I'm excited to see what Lyve can offer!

The lack of printing and being able to set chronological order is my biggest hiccup!!! It is so overwhelming to think that I have 7 years of photos from MANY different devices and 2 nice cameras yet have little to no prints to show for it AND I have no clue where to even start!!! I've tried a few times…and it's far too frustrating!!! This app and product sounds like a dream!!!! { A.schimmer521@gmail.com }

This would be so great for us. I hate trying to upload to the computer, but I'm always running out of space on my old 8gb iPhone. Also, last summer I dropped my phone in a lake (yes, really) an lost 6 moths of pics. I was heartbroken. 🙁 At least with this I wouldn't have to worry about losing my memories if I ever did anything so stupid again!

I'm always so paranoid of losing pictures that I not only keep them on my phone forever (thus running out of space), but also have them on my computer as well as an external hard drive. The downfall is that I often lost track of which pictures I have transferred where and often end up with the same pictures in multiple folders. It would also be nice to have a device that puts them in chronological order! Hamm11387011@yahoo.com

I had my first child in January and, despite moving photos to my computer and backing up to the cloud, it still causes panic when i need to delete photos and create space on my phone. This would be a huge help and reassurance.

I currently have over 4000 photos on my iphone. I have downloaded them, but I want some of them available, so I never delete them. Then I download them again. It's a horrible, duplicated mess. One place for all my photos sounds so perfect!

Just when I get my photos organized on one computer or phone, I'll upgrade it or add a new device into the mix. This results in searching through old phones, multiple facebook albums, and/or my college computer for that one photo I just have to find! Such a simple solution to a common problem!

I am an "organize freak" but when it comes to pictures of my daughter I hate how unorganized I am. I have pictures on my phone, my husbands phone, my camera…all over the place. I also use my memory up on my phone and go to take a video of her on my phone and it says I can't and I have to delete a bunch of stuff, which I hate. I feel like I delete pics and videos I really want to keep to make room for more, that I will eventually end up having to delete to take more. When she was about 2 months old my phone broke and I had no way to get all my pics back from it, except the very few I put on Facebook I could copy back of the many I had. Long story short the Lyve sounds amazing. My biggest fear is that when she gets older and wants to see pictures of her younger days or I need or want pics of the past I won't have them because they got lost, deleted, or whatever else all happens between the many of devices I use to capture her moments and memories. The Lyve sounds wonderful and I would love to try one out to help with all these "mommy moment-capturing" problems I have on what seems to be a day to day basis.

I tend to leave my photos on my camera. I'm not even sure why. Laziness? Also, once I've got them on my computer, I don't have a good way to go through them. I have good intentions of scrapbooking, but again, laziness. I love that this device is wireless and acts as a display as well as storage. Great idea.

I love the idea of having a system that easily displays and stores photos across different platforms. I have a tendency to keep my photos on my phone and not display them and this seems like the perfect solution to get them display while storing them. It will also help me to keep them more organized which I'm not the best at. This Lyve system sounds like it would be a fun device to help give my photos more life!
