This is my sweet niece, Lainey, at her dad’s concert. Lainey and my daughter, Milly, are only 1.5 days apart. It’s been so fun to watch them grow together and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for their relationship.
Earlier in the month we attended one of my brother-in-law’s shows. He spent some time in Nashville earlier this year recording his debut album and although I’m not the biggest country music fan around, I really love everything he does! His music is catchy, fun, and about real life. Xander is one of Lance’s biggest fans, and he knows most of the words! Sundresses and Boots and City Lights are my current favorites.
I love when Xander does something that gets Milly in full on belly laughs. He doesn’t usually like to get too dirty, but he would have kicked this dirt forever to get a rise out of her.
This ivy has been growing on the neighbors fence for a while, and Milly held still long enough to snap a few shots. She loves pulling leaves and petals off of plants right now, hence the lavender in her hands. It felt good to get back to my photo roots (no, they don’t run very deep) and take some candid pictures of my kids. This is why I learned to take a picture and it is really good for my soul. It causes me to slow down and notice little things about my kids that I don’t see in the rush of the day to day. The small details are going to change so fast, and it’s so important that I savor the moments; capturing them forever is an added bonus.
One of my favorite sources for hair accessories for Milly is anthropologie. I know it’s a splurge – I don’t usually spend that much on things for her – but unlike clothes or shoes these are something she’ll never outgrow. Because she’s had hair since birth, she’s used to having something in her hair, so loosing them isn’t a big issue for us. I knew I probably couldn’t replicate the clip she’s wearing here, but sometimes the things they have are good inspiration for making something similar. My favorite and the most affordable source for hair accessories is Forever 21. I love this set from there and the price can’t be beat!
You can always see more of my day to day, from Milly wanting to try on everything in the store – like this leopard hat – to project sneak peeks and thrifting finds, by following me on instagram.
It’s hard to believe the summer has come and gone (although the heat has not). I used to live for
summer, and while I still really enjoy much about it, the older I get
the more I love the fall. The holidays, the birthdays (September is
crazy for us), the weather that makes you pull out your boots and
scarves. I’m ready. How about you?

I am dying over Milly's baby chub! My girls have pretty much lost theirs by now and I miss it! Your morning scenes are so much like ours – my husband is totally the crazy/loud/playful one…not to say your hubs is crazy or loud… 🙂

I know what you mean! He is the crazy one. 🙂
And yes, the baby chub is something I never get tired of!

True confession: I'm a country music fan. I know it's not always a popular choice, but I just can't help it. It's a part of who I am. So cool about your brother-in-law. And yes, your children are absolutely adorable! Thanks for sharing snapshots. These moments with our kiddos truly are fleeting. It's so cliche, but SO true.

Thanks, Autumn! And don't worry, I used to really like country music when I was living in Iowa for school. For me it's all about your surroundings. Since I'm in the suburbs again, it just doesn't have the same feel for me. I certainly appreciate it, and Nashville is one of the few shows I watch religiously. 🙂

Oh those lips on Milly! And the leopard hat & shoes!?! I love all the girly stuff since I only get to dress my sweet boys. Luckily I have a girly girl niece who allows me to get my girl shop on pretty regularly. 😉 Your kids are so precious and I don't think there is anything much better than grabbing my camera and getting some candid shots of my kiddos. It does slow down the hustle and bustle of things and reminds us of what is really important. I love all the shots your captured! 😉

Those pictures on the bed are classic. My hubs is the 'fun parent' too. You littles are so cute!
