The pool brought us lots of outdoor fun this summer, but it’s officially closed and time to shift our focus back inside. I’ve spent much of this week organizing and purging, and now I’m adding touches of fall and preparing for indoor entertaining. We went big in our dining room for Halloween this year, and I didn’t really have plans to decorate elsewhere, but I’ve been peppering new pieces into the living room that not only make it feel more finished but a bit more cozy.
One of the Parsons chairs ended up in here because they don’t really go with the current theme in the dining room, and I love how it looks proof that a good animal print can work anywhere. Leopard feels really appropriate for fall. It’s bold yet cozy.
Candles are an entertaining must all year long, but they warm things up in the cooler months, and the early sunsets mean more time to bask in their glow.
A nod to Halloween can be ever so subtle. Slipping a skeleton hand under a glass paperweight is discrete yet festive.
When I’m decorating a room, I like to have entertaining in mind. Room flow, seating, and places for people to set down drinks are all important parts of the experience. I’ve been searching for just the right side table to go in-between the tub chairs, and this little silver one from Ross was a great score. The height is just right, and the table is weighted enough to not be knocked over when my kids get a bit rowdy in those chairs. They are so much fun to spin around in!
Color certainly evokes memories and feelings. Switching out the pink pillow cover for it’s raspberry twin immediately takes my mind to autumnal days.
Don’t forget about plants. As the life outside begins to fade, it’s nice to have some inside. This philodendron that I picked up at a local flea market is easy to care for and will bring cheer throughout the winter months. And I just found the perfect pot for it!
Do you have any decor you unconventionally associate with fall?

It's from a local store called Nell Hills, but you can usually find them at Homegoods if you have one near you.

The wood paneling in your home is really gorgeous and I love the black fireplace.

For me fall means metallic. I am not the type to like all of the traditional fall colors…so there are no orange pumpkins sitting around…I do however love the look of copper. I have a few family antique pieces of copper that I have stashed around here and there..including an entire set of copper mugs. My husband definitely leans more toward eclectic styles…and loves the idea of little elements of surprise tucked quietly around…aka a small metallic beaded skull sitting almost year round on a shelf on one of etageres.

I love all of the warm, cozy touches you added for Fall. The skeleton hand with the glass weight looks so elegant! I can't wait to try some DIY blot art. I've been thinking about it for a while. Your paneling and dark fireplace is one of my favorite rooms. I've been decorating with caramel and pops of black and white this season!

"proof that a good animal print can work anywhere." YASSS. I mean, I already thought this but now that you said it, it's pretty much a rule. Now you just have to keep me in check from doing my whole home in animal print and gilded gold frames. #newjerseyhousewife #thefirststepisadmittingyouhaveaproblem #longhashtags

I just love how this room has come together! I think you need to keep that animal print in there–it adds such luxe!! Beautiful job as always 🙂
