I’m so thrilled to tell you that the winter issue of Do It Yourself magazine is on newsstands now, and it includes a feature on our last home! When they told me it could take up to a year to publish, I braced myself for what would seem like an eternity of waiting and was so pleased to hear it was included this soon. The whole experience was something I’ll never forget, and now that we no longer live there, I cherish these pictures. They capture a place that Micah and I worked hard on and created a lot of memories in.
Pick up a copy to see almost every room in our old house (they shot all but 2) and learn a bit more about my approach to decorating a home. Thanks again to the wonderful team who made this possible, especially Brenda, Jay, Jacob and Maria.

It was only a matter of time until you ended up getting discovered by a publication like BHG. I so envy your eye and ability to put a room together! Along that vein, I have a question for you. I notice you use white a lot, especially white trim, to lend a feeling of lightness and openness to a room. My home was built in 1909, and it has a lot of beautiful medium-dark woodwork and trim. I am struggling with finding paint colors that are warm enough to complement the wood, but not so dark that they make the room feel small or the woodwork feel oppressive. Do you have experience or recommendations on how to style a room with darkish woodwork and trim?

You're sweet! Your home sounds incredible! I would kill for the kind of woodwork you probably have. 🙂 I'll shoot you an email with some ideas, Lisa!
