September is always a crazy good month for us. But this go around is was exceptionally crazy and exceptionally good. I guess that’s part of the reason I’m just now getting around to posting about it.
We celebrated Labor Day with some good friends at their parent’s home.
Ryan and Kalee welcomed little Ava into the world this summer and we couldn’t be happier for them. They are one of the most kind couples we know, and they are the most natural parents.
Both of my kids love a good helmet. Just to wear…just because. Xander had no intention of riding his bike this day. I’m not sure where they get this, seeing as I was raised by some rather cautious parents (a doctor and a nurse) who required us to wear protective everything – much to our embarrassment.
Two of my oldest and dearest friends (Molly + Emily) and myself all have September birthdays. Every year we get together to celebrate and every year seems to get a bit more crazy. Probably because we tend to add a new child or two to the mix. Our get-togethers have turned from wine and gossip to sippy cups and diaper duty (look how thrilled our children are!), but the catching up is so wonderful!
Xander attends a Montessori school a few mornings a week, and I was able to attend his Celebration of Life, a Montessori birthday tradition. It was so special to see him show the class pictures of himself as a baby and light candles for each year of his life.
We took a trip to Powell Gardens with my sister-in-law and niece. The kids definitely liked the water pump over any of the botanicals.
A day that Xander wasn’t feeling so great. I hope seeing him sleep will always be this sweet.
I am really enjoying the friendship that is sprouting between these two. As long as we have more love than quarreling, I’ll be happy.
Lainey is always the sharer. Milly is always the taker.
A nice afternoon in the new sandbox Micah built for Xander’s birthday. It’s great for the kids, not so great for my anxious OCD. Sand everywhere, and I do mean everywhere!
Milly is still not a big fan of the sand underfoot. You don’t need to be able to hear to appreciate this picture…Lainey’s face says it all.
We also had Xander’s Friday the 13th bash and magazine cover shoot and a baby shower, along with our anniversary and a slew of other family members’ celebrations. Phew. What a month! Do you have a specific month where everything seems to fall? Do you love it, dread it, or find it crazy good like me?

That is one fun filled month. Your kids are so cute! And my oldest likes to wear her bike helmet around too. But she hates to ride her bike. Crazy kids.

Xander too! He does not like his bike at all. We're hoping that changes at some point!
