This blog didn’t start out as a decor blog, and never did I dream that I’d spend most of my time talking about decorating. I started The Makerista as a way to document things I make, but I thought that would mostly include simple DIY’s and inspiration: a dress for Milly, party decor for Xander’s birthday or the final piece of art for a gallery wall.
Professional I am not, but I often have readers (or referrals from readers) reach out in the hopes that I can help them with their home. To be honest, I say no a lot. I have enough trouble keeping up with domestication, motherhood and blogging, but once in a while I have some time or feel a tug to work with someone.
I don’t consider it design because I’m not a designer, but rather consulting. I work closely with clients to put together a space, and it’s a definite team effort. From paint colors to accessories, I help guide them along and hopefully teach them a few of my techniques and ideas along the way. More so than leaving them with a pretty space at the end, I hope to equip them so they can make better design decisions on their own.
I’m currently working with an amazing couple in San Fransisco, and they totally have an eye for it – it’s just that extra help that will take their house to the next level. I would call their style neutrally minimal modern with a touch of traditional. Did you watch Secrets From a Stylist? I always feel like Emily Henderson when I describe someone’s style like that. I know, in my dreams…
Joannie and Evan appreciate quality and great bones, and I’ve been incredibly inspired by them and the things we’ve been putting together. They love a clean look and prefer quality finishes over quantity. I look forward to showing you more of their home in the coming months, but for now I thought I’d leave you with some pieces we’ve been inspired by.

Love this whole board Gwen! It's great with the 'consultant' and clients are in sync with style choices!

Gorgeous! I love working with people that inspire me. And it fills my craving for other styles. I struggle with wanting it all in my own home and it's just not possible.
