I’m often asked where I get inspiration from, and the answer “everywhere” is rather boring, but pretty true. You can be inspired by anything, but sometimes I find inspiration by steping outside of my own creative norm to get a fresh perspective and see things in a new way. Last year I went to Nashville with my wonderful friend, Laura, she might be the most talked about person on this blog other than Mr. Makerista to help her shoot a wedding.
Laura and I have collaborated on so many things: from our own houses to styled shoots, but this was the first time I got the chance to help her with the thing she’s made a name doing. Laura is fantastic at capturing people and moments…if you’re looking for someone to get the pictures of you and your loved ones that you’ll cherish the most in 10 years, she’s your girl. It was a total honor to be asked to shoot with her and the wedding was INCREDIBLE. Jill and Aneesh’s day was filled with two ceremonies, hundreds of guests, the most beautiful details, and lots of love. From a design perspective the color was so refreshing in a sea of blush weddings, and the mix of traditional Indian elements with rustic, American modern was a real treat. I thought with the onset of spring you might find some inspiration amidst the details yourself.
You can see more of the day here. I’ve only helped shoot one other wedding before, and it was a really thoughtful and global affair as well! I love when a wedding feels so personal and special.
Did your wedding day have some elements that stood out? I’d love to hear about them!

We went to an Indian wedding a few years ago in Atlanta and it was beautiful! The colors were brilliant and it was so fun to see the different traditions/customs they have. Also, I love grandma’s stylish glasses : )

Absolutely gorgeous, Gwen. You are very lucky to have been a part of something so special. If you are ever in Springfield, MO. Consider visiting Obelisk Home. We have a large textiles library and decor showroom. We’d love to show you around.

Both the photography and the wedding elements are beautiful! So much thought and personal meaning looks to have gone into it. That is why I love weddings! (Besides the cake and champagne, of course).
