Last week was an infection and this week it’s the stomach flu. As someone who isn’t sick very often, it’s amazing how much I take my health for granted. The bug has spread rapidly through our house and has three of us down at the moment: Milly, me and Xander. The only thing worse than being a sick mom is being a sick mom with two sick kids.
Needless to say, I feel really behind. The house is a mess, the laundry isn’t done and I haven’t cooked in what feels like forever this one I’m not totally sad about – not to mention the list of projects I had hoped to finish. It’s been one of those times where you just have to humble your list-checking self and put things on the back-burner. All of this can (must) wait.
Yesterday, in the midst of it all: loads of laundry not folded, cups and puke bowls strewn about, a little one peeking out from under my sheets, I received a tweet saying that I had won the Better Homes and Gardens editors’ pick for top decorating blog. “Have they seem my house lately?”
Sometimes receiving honor in the midst of humility is the most humbling thing of all.
To those of you who have voted for me over the last several weeks, I can’t thank you enough. Your support of this blog and my sometimes out-there decor decisions means more to me than you could know.
