Thank you all for the response to our bookshelf progress on Monday! Moulding for the win!
For many reasons it’s just not feeling quite like Christmas this year. It could be the unseasonably warm weather or the fact that I’ve spent the week covered in construction dust instead of flour and glitter, but as we prepare for the celebration of our Savior, I’m hoping to work less and focus on family and friends more. Someone remind me next year not to start a reno right before Christmas.
One thing that feels consistent is my procrastination with Christmas cards. I always send them out, but I’m forever squeaking by at the last moment. And while we’ve taken family pictures in the past to prepare for cards, they just didn’t happen this year. I could have stressed about it, thrown together an afternoon of portrait-taking and grouchy-making, but instead I asked the kids to draw. Fun and low stress. Thanks to social media, people know what we look like anyway, right?
Minted has recently added completely custom foil and letterpress cards to their collection, and the idea of turning virtually anything: a picture of your house, a map of your town, your kid’s art into a letterpress card seemed so beautiful and personal in a fresh way.
I uploaded a picture I had taken with my phone of the kid’s artwork, and because I’m a total Anglophile, I changed the words on this card to “Happy Christmas.” I think the cards feel modern and simple, yet personal and precious. Don’t worry, if you still haven’t sent holiday cards, there’s always the new year to celebrate!
I hope you all have an incredibly blessed holiday, and I pray that each one of you experiences the true meaning of Christmas.

It's sometimes hard to strike a balance between modern & still personal, but these totally hit the nail on the head! I remember when I was a kid, an adult friend of our family used a little painting of mine on a card and it blew my mind and made me feel like such a "real" artist. I hope this gives your kids that same feeling! 🙂
