Laura’s kids’ room is filled with budget friendly finds. While many of them were thrifted/Craigslisted, many are from two of our favorite go-to’s for low budget decor: Target and IKEA. The headboards were a cheap Overstock find that Laura had reupholstered in a red velvet. And the chambray floor pillows were some old forms that Laura had new cases made for. The wallpapered nook was the start of the redesign, and we kind of worked out from there. That paper is so lovely and very reasonable! From there the other walls went Sherwin Williams North Star cut 50%. Below the images in this post you’ll find links to the products. If something isn’t tagged it is either vintage or no longer available, but I tried to find similar items for several things.

This room is proof that a mix of items and price points is really important for a space to feel interesting. Keeping a cohesive color palette allowed Laura to blend all kinds of styles. Breaking the gender norms the room has areas that lean more feminine and spots that are clearly more masculine, but they all work so beautifully together.
What’s your favorite thing in the space?

hi – the light fixture above the beds! do you have a source for it?

Unfortunately I don’t. It’s a vintage rice paper shade. Here is a very similar one! http://rstyle.me/n/ckr2ujxf7n

Thank you so much for listing the resources for the room. It is perfect! Do you have source information for the red fabric used for the headboards?

I believe she picked it up locally, sorry I can’t be more help!
