I blog down in the corner of our basement. Trust me, it’s anything but glamorous, and I’m just lucky to be by the only window in the entire space. Up to this point it’s been a less-then-inspiring area, and as my devotion and upkeep to the blog continues to grow, I’m spending more and more time in this little corner. A makeover of sorts had been on the list for some time, and I think the office refresh I did last week was just the motivation to get going.
The whole basement is painted a dark grey: perfect for snuggling up for movies or lounging on the weekend, but not so great for blogging into the wee hours of the night. I knew I needed to lighten up the corner, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it without painting the whole basement. Remember about 10 years ago when accent walls were really popular? The idea came to mind, but I thought instead of doing a whole wall, why not just do a section? By keeping 3″ of the grey as a border around it, it feels like a fresh take on the idea, and really brightens up the space.
I’ve had this portrait of the girl by Caitlin Shearer for some time now. Last week I had mentioned my current color combination obsession, and I’m pretty sure it stemmed from this piece of art. I was really drawn to her, and the lavender with red lips is amazing.
