What a wonderful week it was in the city! Better Homes and Gardens invited me to their Stylemaker Workshops, and I decided to head to New York a few days early to spend time with friends and celebrate my birthday in my favorite city.
I headed out Tuesday to meet up with my friend, Emily and had some time to explore a bit of the city on my own. Emily has a pretty amazing job in the fashion industry that also requires a lot of time and energy. But shopping and traveling the city solo is kind of my greatest joy. I got in on Tuesday and spent the afternoon at Mood and MJ Trimmings, with some clothes shopping smattered in between.
Wednesday did some more exploring on my own. ABC Home certainly did not disappoint. With 6 floors of home decor, and 2 floors of flooring across the street, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
I told Emily I wanted to stop by a Club Monaco, and she said I had to go to the newly remodeled Flatiron location. It did not disappoint, and the interiors were lovely.
The details were just beautiful, yet they still allowed the clothes to shine. All of the mirrored paneling and trim work was clean and classic, but the accessories and lighting felt really modern.
The next morning I headed to the Better Homes and Gardens offices for their Stylemaker Workshops. The day was filled with incredible classes and panels put on by editors and designers. Not only did I get the chance to learn a lot, I got the opportunity to connect with so many bloggers that I’ve “known” online for years. It was only after the fact that I realized I didn’t get pictures with anyone! Along with some wonderful girls like Lindsay, Kelly, Kristin, Amy, and Darlene (I know I’m forgetting so many), I also got to meet my Creating with the Stars mentor, Michael.

Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous of your trip! I've never been to NYC but I'm dying to go! And it's so cool that you were there with BH&G and got to see Nate Berkus and Eddie Ross, I would die!

Well that is a dream trip right there! How wonderful! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE New York. I have only been twice but it was awesome both times. You can't even explain to other people what it is about it but I just love it.

Yeah, pretty much a dream trip! I have always wanted to live in the big city, I live in the DC metro area which is only a 50 minute plane ride to NYC but I've only been up there twice. I love it! I'm not sure about living there now that I have 3 kids, but I love to visit and soak up all of the energy of the big apple.

That's nice to be so close! Yes, I wouldn't want to live there with kids, but it's great when your hands aren't as full. 🙂

Sitting here trying not to be jealous. Thanks for sharing all of the gorgeous pics! Do you know that you're totally a design rock star? 🙂

Nah, I wouldn't say that! Thanks though, it was fun!

I only live an 1.5 hours away from NYC and we go several times a year. My kiddos love it as much as I do. And I can even sometimes squeeze in a girls night in the city. That said, I love New York.
Sounds and looks like you had an amazing time.
