[…] R: I honestly feel like we celebrate Valentine’s Day everyday. That’s not a complaint, we’re just really fortunate to have that kind of love and passion after 15 years. That said, I like to turn it up a bit for V day. She never wants or expects anything, but I plan on serving breakfast in bed, flowers, a card with a letter to her, perhaps some jewelry, and a massage. It’s sappy, but she really does deserve it. This woman does a lot for me and our family!! C: You are forgiven for the telling everyone I snore. Love this adventure when are on together. And there it is. A few words from the hubby. I have to say that his being gone all week made me even more cognizant of just how lucky we are to call him dad and husband. I am very very blessed and I couldn’t love him more. I also know that I am a pain in the you know what when it comes to blogging much of the time but I so appreciate how supportive and understanding Ryan is. He knows it’s my passion and let’s me roll with it. There are such awesome bloggers lined up for today’s blog-hop. I haven’t read these yet either so I can’t wait to see what the hubbies all have to say! The complete line up is below! What’s something about Rebekah that her readers might not know (but she would be okay with you sharing)? – She hates Primus but can stomach Tool. 17. What does Rebekah REALLY want for Valentine’s Day, and what are you getting her? – A spa package to Lost Pines Resort. A box of chocolates and roses. Oh my heavens those are hilarious!! Thank you to my sweet husband for answering these and I have a better insight to what he really thinks of this whole blogging gig! No but really. Thank you sweetie. You ARE incredibly patient and supportive and I really could not do all I do without you! Okay so now go check out what these ladies husbands had to say about there life in the blogger world. Hahahaha, oh my gosh…When he described your style as “difficult.” I died laughing. What a sweetheart though!!! I feel like our hubbies would get along well 🙂 xoxo
themakerista@gmail.com says
I know, that’s pretty funny. But most of what I ask him to do is not simple in design or execution, so I guess it’s a fair answer!
Bliss says
I have a small dog sitting business, and I joke with everyone we know that thank GOD not picking up dog doo was the only thing in our prenup! I even went so far as buying a nice shiny pooper scooper as a gift when one of our boys turned 10. Isn’t that what Xander wants for his birthday?
alexandra says
love this! your library is gorggg
Megan | Honey We're Home says
Love the site changes and this post! Does he really play video games?! I thought that was just my guy! You guys make a great team! Your library is beyond amazing!
themakerista@gmail.com says
He does! It’s rather annoying sometimes, ha. But he doesn’t play nearly as much as he used to!
Claire Brody says
“but there are places in our house that she lets me style (the garage and the basement)” omg laughing so hard at this. Also, melting at Xander telling you he wants to dress up in a suit and take you to dinner. Such a lovely family!
themakerista@gmail.com says
seeing as the basement isn’t finished the garage is, well, the garage, I had a good chuckle at that too. 🙂

Gwen, I’m so curious how you handle having white things with a black lab! I have one as well, and thus I tend to avoid white furniture, white curtains, light rugs, etc. (‘This is why we can’t have WHITE things!’). Also, where do you put his crate (assuming he has one)?
themakerista@gmail.com says
I hear ya! We don’t have many white things. 🙁 Some white walls and white sheets (since getting married Jake isn’t allowed in the bed, ha) and I do have a big white sheepskin rug on the floor of my closet and it’s one of Jake’s favorite spots to lay so it’s covered in hair and has a nice brown tinge where he lays. He doesn’t have a crate, we put him in the laundry room when we all leave the house and I like not dealing with it but definitely wish sometimes he slept in one. Sometimes in the middle of the night he’ll get up on the couch and clean the mud out from his paws on it. 🙁 Dogs are definitely more mess than kids!

I so enjoyed reading this post, Gwen! You too seem like a wonderful couple! So lucky that you enjoy working on projects together! My husband doesn’t enjoy DIY at all – he pretty much gives me free reign on decorating choices, but in exchange I’m usually tackling things solo.
themakerista@gmail.com says
I definitely need him for most of it, I just don’t have the strength or knowledge to tackle much of what we do. Kudos to you for getting after it all on your own!
courtney ( a thoughtful place) says
You two are so gorgeous. And I love how proud of you he is. Sweet husband. Have a great weekend. Site seems like it’s working great! LOVE the switch. xo
themakerista@gmail.com says
Oh, good to hear! Still a lot to learn and some things to tweak but I’m sure I’ll be really happy with it all in no time!
Haneen's Haven says
Love it! So fun to read! What a great idea for you all to do this! I’d love to join next time! 🙂
themakerista@gmail.com says
Thanks, Haneen, it was a lot of fun to share something a bit different. 🙂
cassie @ primitive & proper says
oh my gosh i die at xander- the sweetest! loved reading and learning more about you, like the pj pants. 🙂 love it!
cassie @ primitive & proper says
oh and PS- “simple and modern” was my husband’s style description as well! they know what they like, i guess!
themakerista@gmail.com says
I wish I could say I was put together all the time, but most of the time I’m not and it’s pretty comfortable. 🙂
Abby @ Just a Girl and Her Blog says
The cutest! It has been so fun seeing the blogs from the husbands’ perspective! Have fun with that kitchen reno (and with your cute date!) this weekend!
~Abby =)
Shannon Claire says
“Difficult”! Hahahaha. I love it. I think that’s an awesome compliment! You guys are gorgeous.
themakerista@gmail.com says
Ha, I mean, I can’t blame him for saying that but he should just know by now. 🙂
Chloe says
I really enjoyed reading this :)) Your hubby is so supportive, I’m so happy for you two 🙂

Albertina || Mimosa Lane says
what a fun post! I loved learning more about you. I think the kitchen remodel is a wonderful valentine’s day gift that will keep on giving. Mr. Makerista sounds absolutely wonderful 🙂
themakerista@gmail.com says
It definitely will!
Carmel says
Loving the site changes! I’ve been considering a switch to WordPress but I’ve been too chicken and set in my ways to make the leap. You all make one hot, super talented couple! Love how he supports your interests. Can’t wait to see more kitchen updates. Totally love the library!
themakerista@gmail.com says
It’s way less scary than I thought it would be! And cheaper too. 🙂 Let me know if you want a recc. the girl I used was really great and fast!
Julia@Cuckoo4Design says
The most gorgeous couple and I loved hearing his sweet answers.
themakerista@gmail.com says
Thanks, you’re sweet. 🙂
Angie Burke says
Love this post! But, it’s super hard to read on an iPhone. It’s all smushed to the left. Not sure why. I know you are changing the format of your blog so maybe that’s why??
themakerista@gmail.com says
That is why. 🙁 I’m really tech illiterate, ha! I’m trying to get it figured out and hopefully it will be good soon, thanks for your patience, Angie and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Victoria Brown says
Taking care of the yard, taking the trash out, picking up the dog poop in the yard and playing video games — exactly what my husband does! Loved reading this Q&A. Thanks for sharing! On a side note: The jeans you’re wearing in the photos…is that the pair from Nordstrom you mentioned in your classic fall outfit post? I’m on the hunt to find great jeans that don’t ride too low when I bend over. As a new mom, I’m bending over a lot! And my current jeans just don’t cut it. Thanks!
themakerista@gmail.com says
It is! I literally wear them at least 3-4 times a week, so they are worth the investment. They’re definitely my go-to pant and I’d buy them again and again. So comfortable, flattering, and easy to move around in with little ones. 😉
