I’m terrible at the favorites game. What’s your favorite food? Favorite band? Favorite movie? It takes me forever to decide, and even when I do, I’m just settling…it’s not really my favorite because I just don’t have them. I never really have.
I have the same problem with colors. I tend to lean towards cool and subdued colors, but I like a shot of something energetic – tomato red, hot pink, coral. But I can also tire of colors quickly. Take for instance this mirror I painted a few months ago.
I had some trouble finding the exact green I had hoped for, and settled for this bright, kelly green. I liked it enough, but didn’t LOVE it. To get that thing down, covered, and sprayed took some time and muscles I didn’t feel like using again, so I told myself I would live with it and even blogged about it here. I was at Home Depot a few weeks later, and decided to try the Rustoleum Professional Spray in Hunter Green. This is my go-to spray paint, but I had not yet tried this color.
I brought a can home and used all my upper body strength (not much) to get that thing off the wall and outside for a fresh coat. Micah helped me the first time, but I wasn’t about to ask again. You wives know what I’m talking about.
I know it is called hunter green, but it’s this really rich emerald that changes color as the day goes by.
I like how it converses with everything else in the view from the kitchen. The first green kind of shouted.
I’m personally a huge fan of the more moody, deep colors going on in
fashion and looking forward to their jump into home decor. This green might be a new favorite. Not that I have favorites.
Have you ever had those projects where you immediately wish you had done something different at the finish line?

I am a big fan of kelly green, but for this space, I like your switch. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said the original color shouted and this one makes a much softer point. Fun shoes, too 🙂

I do that kind of stuff all the time. I totally agree that this is still fun and draws your eye in, but also lets the other elements of the room shine too…such a good balance!

My husband hasn't noticed it yet, or hasn't said anything anyways. I hate to do things like that myself because then he knows I CAN do them myself. 🙂

Thanks, Kelly! I really liked your post about your entry and adding all the color…it's taken me a bit and a few leaps to get to this point. 🙂

The new green is muucchhh better. Looks calm and sophisticated. I know that feeling of not wanting to ask for help a second time. My lovely partner I softer astounded by the size if the furniture I can move around! It's amazing what a couple of thick towels and some gentle pushing can achieve.

I just unloaded a solid wood chest of drawers out of the back of my car the other day because I didn't want my husband to gripe. Ha! It took me forever, and yes, I was using towels to scoot it to a place in the back of our garage, but I did it! We woman really can do anything if we need to!

I really like the hunter green better too. It is bright without shouting at you.
Autumn Beach says
Oooohhh…I like the new green. But I liked the old one, too. Ha! I find myself craving deeper/moodier colors in the fall/winter months and brighter ones in the spring and summer. In fact, I switch things up in my decor to reflect my seasonal color moods, which is helpful since I'm forever changing my mind. 🙂 SO funny, and I totally get you, about not wanting to ask the hubs for help. Way to go, Muscles!

Love it! Looks a bit more sophisticated! Is the exact same way when it comes to changing my mind!
